Perpetual Victim

Victims. They are everywhere and you don't have to look that hard. They don't always bare bruises and cuts. You can see it in their attitudes toward and acceptance of abhorrent and vile behavior. I have witnessed people I know, otherwise strong and forthright women overlook the degradation and abuse of others. I've seen someone blame the victim.

Sickening and disheartening, I look on as they start down that dark path of blaming and self abuse, surrounding themselves with people who will keep them down, feeding them with lies and insincere support. Unable to face their own demons, they project their unreconciled hatred for themselves out on others who are just like them: weak and vulnerable.
